Thematic Shows

The Ballet was a popular theme amongst artists in the Soviet Union during the 1950s-1980s - both for commissions, as well as for the personal pleasure of the artists. Many of the artists found an outlet for their yearnings for impressionistic art by painting ballet.

This exhibition shows the ballet seen with the eyes of several artists:

Boris Uspensky and Oleg Savostyuk, who worked as in-house artists for the Bolshoi Theatre, preparing posters and programmes, costume and set designer Tatyana Livanova, Konstantin Gneushev, Marina Denisenko, Marina Uspenskaya, and Evgenii Gavrilkevich.
