Thematic Shows

Vladimir Mayakovsky is one of the few Soviet icons that are still popular and untainted is most peoples mind.

During the 1920s he was famous as a communist, a poet and playwright, an actor and an artist – many Russian artists today see him as a renaissance man – and he had a very strong influence on the development of the Soviet art during the 1920s and 1930.

Thus, many artists have used Mayakovsky and his art as their inspiration.

In this exhibition, you can find portraits of Mayakovsky, posters for his plays, and political posters with Mayakovsky poems.

Of particular interest may be the series by Evgenia Endrikson, inspired by Mayakovsky's poem "V.I. Lenin".
