Viktor Yakovlevich was educated as a graphical artist, and studied at the Vkutein Art institute 1929-1931, and later at МПИ under Sergey Gerasimov.
He worked mainly as an illustrator for magazines from 1929-1955, and through the 1960s for the satirical magazine Krokodil.
