In the period of reconstruction of the country after World War II, the socialist urban utopia was visualised as a city of skyscrapers.
This ideological concept first assumed form in Moscow on January 13, 1947, when the Council of Ministers of the U.S.S.R. ordered the erection of eight tower blocks in the center of Moscow. It is to remark that for the first time in urbanist practice a complex of various buildings was to be raised simoultaneously, creating a visually unified vertical urban silhouette. These buildings are popularly called the "Stalin Skyscrapers".
