Krasnopevtsev, Dmitry (1925-1995)
Dmitry Krasnopevtsev was characterised as a non-conformist artist. It refers to art produced in the former Soviet Union from 1953-1986 (after the death of Joseph Stalin until the advent of Perestroika and Glasnost) outside of the rubric of Socialist Realism. Other terms used to refer to this phenomenon are "unofficial art" or "underground art."
He finished the Surikov institute in 1955, and worked for 20 years as a graphics artist, mainly doing film posters.
In parallel, he produced his "non-conformist" works, which may be characterized as close to surrealism, with a melancholic, pragmatic tone.
