Vladimir Ilytch Andrushkevich was born in the village of Pimenovka in the Kurgan region. He served in the Second World War, and after the war he entered the Moscow Art Studio, where he studied under M. Dobroserdov, G. Treitlin, and I Gurvich.

He graduated in 1952. In 1958 he finished the studies at the Surikov Institute in Moscow, where he studied under D. Dekhteryov, specialising in book illustrations.

In 1964 he became a member of the Artists' Union.

During his career, Vladimir Ilitch has illustrated a large number of books, in watercolour and gouache. He also masters the linocut media, which he has used both for industrial landscapes and for village genre and landscapes.
