Textile Designer

Famous Moscow textile designer, who developed some of the most commonly used textiles of the late 1940s and 1950s and 1960s in the Soviet Union.

She studied at the Moscow Textile Institute from 1939-1948, with a break during WW2, where she was evacuated to Uzbekistan.

From 1949 to 1983 she worked as head designer at the Moscow textile Manufacture "Krasnaya Roza" ("The Red Rose"), and she prepared more than 400 textile designs, tapestries and stage curtains during that period.

In her "private" arts life, she enjoyed painting the Southern landscapes of the Crimea, mainly in Gurzuf on the Black Sea. She also travelled to Italy during the 1960s, depicted in a series of colourful works from Venice, Firenze and Capri. Another series of her works are from the beaches of the Baltic Sea, near Palanga.

When allowed the artistic freedom, her style may be compared to the post impressionists, with bold colours and creative perspectives.

In 1972 she was awarded the State Prize (лауреат государственной премии), and in 1981 she was honoured with the title "Merited Artist of the Russian Federation" (Заслуженный художник).
