Mark Aleksandrovich Abramov was born in Kharkov, and studied at the Moscow MISI institute.

From the 1930s he drew satire and caricature for the famous soviet journals Krokodil, Znamya, Ogonyok, and for newspapers Izvestiya, Moskovskaya Pravda, Literaturnaya Gazeta.

From the late 1950s he started drawing posters, mainly on the topics of cold war, fighting bureaucracy, as well as agricultural themes.
