Viktor Pavlovich Kin (Surovikin) (1903-1937) was a Russian writer and journalist. He joined the Bolshevik party in 1920 and made underground party work in the Russian Far East . Between 1928-1930 he studied at the Institute of Red Professors in Moscow and worked afterwards as TASS's correspondent in Rome and Paris. In 1937, he became the Le Journal de Moscou editor. Soon after, he was arrested and executed as the enemy of the people. His novel "The Other Side" is a romantic report on the Russian civil war in the Far East in 1921-1922. The heroes of the novel are young romantics who do not conceive of life outside the framework of revolution and who bear the entire burden of the struggle on their shoulders.
